Mario
Meet Mario, our steady, patient, calm and STRONG teacher. Mario is a force, he holds space for everyone to feel connected, authentic and seen in his classes prioritizing his students always. His love for yoga and the practice can be felt in every class of his you take. Mario is at the heart of the PYC Mississauga community.
How many years have you been practicing/teaching? Why do you love to teach?
My yoga story is probably a lot like yours: I stepped onto the mat for the first time in January 2020, seeking nothing more than personal growth and a little sweat. This led me to PYC’s 200-hour Teacher Training in January 2023 with absolutely no intention of ever teaching.
Upon completion in April 2023, the gentle encouragement of a persistent studio owner and a spark of curiosity led me to the front of the room. While a small, humble voice still fights that walk to the front, I’ve found my purpose in holding space.
What can students expect from your class?
I am not here to preach; I am here to facilitate, allowing you to authentically grow and deepen your own practice.
When I’m not guiding a class, you’ll find me deeply invested in my personal practice. In the summer, I trade my mat for the pavement for a refreshing run.
What is your favourite yoga pose?
You’ll Catch Me In: A fun inversion like Tripod Headstand or the beautiful twist of Galaxy Pose.
Current Goal:
I have a complicated but determined relationship with Wheel. Years of back challenges make the backbend difficult, but I believe in the power of patience and persistent practice!
Looking forward to seeing you on your mat!
